How did you get involved at Aussie Wool?
Growing up in a family of generational sheep farmers, I have an intimate knowledge of Australia’s wool quality, and have always had a keen interest in all things wool.
I moved from the western district after I fell in love with Andrew, my husband, leaving my career in the health industry before moving to Warragul.
We married and heard the Aussie Wool business was for sale. We immediately and enthusiastically talked to the owners, and were excited about the opportunity to put our personal touch on such a wonderful Australian product.
My dad is particularly proud of me for getting back to my grass roots!
Why do you think Aussie Wool Comfort is special?
I just love the fact our product is hand-made, chemical free and environmentally sustainable. It’s incredibly exciting to be able to craft something with 100% Australian wool, it’s simply the best quality you can buy.
We make something truly unique here – you really feel it as you craft it in your hands.
I came to fully appreciate the benefits once we started using the products ourselves – I’ve never had such a good night’s sleep! There’s just no substitute.
What surprises you most about the how the business operates?
Everyone who is involved is very passionate about the product – and you see this all the way through the entire supply chain, from the farmers and truck drivers all the way through to the customers. It’s great to work with so many people who make it all possible, and who are passionate about what they do.
What is the favourite part of your role in the company?
I love working with my team and the creativity in the workshop. We’re always looking for ways to improve our products and ensure we are always delivering the very best quality for our customers.
Learning to make each of our products was tough. Luckily a keen eye and perfectionism bordering on obsessive compulsive helps me to ensure all our products are perfect before leaving our factory from our; pillows, under blankets, quilts, protectors and sheet sets.
What is your favourite product and why?
The under blanket. I have never had a better night’s sleep before I started using it. It’s just so comfortable, I have always loved wool but it is just so wonderful to sleep on.
You actually can use it all year round – It really does keep you warm in winter and cool in summer. It makes me marvel at the qualities of wool.
